jump bands is an activity we are doing in PE. there's is two enders and one or more insiders. the enders do the basic step of in in-out out. the insiders do the inside step which is hop hop-step step-hop hop. we have been assigned to make a routine including these skills: the basic inside step, ender step, centipede, exchange, switch (under 6 sec.), hand clap with partner, hand clap with ender, and double in-double out.
the class has been separated into four different groups of six or seven. A six person team has to have one goalie, two defense, two mid-fielders, and one offense. for a seven person group there's just one more offense.the goalie is the only person that can be inside of the goalie circle, but they can step out to throw the ball. defense has to block the other team form scoring the goal, helping the goalie. nut the have to have a three foot space bubble because someone could get hurt. mid-fielders cant score a goal. they have to stay in the middle of the field. and at lats, offense are the people that can score the goals. they can pass it to mid-field or defense but mid-field is easier.
lacrosse is considered the oldest sport in the Americas. more than 1000 Americans will play a game of lacrosse which will take about 2 or 3 days. this game was played to resolve conflict between tribes in the Americas. the first game was documented by the missionaries in 1636. the french had started playing and made changes to the rules. they also made the teams, field, and rules smaller. they changed the length of a football field with 10 people.
the other day in p.e. we have played crab soccer. crab soccer is where we have to get in a crab position and play soccer like that. here are the rules: we cannot use our hands, we cannot touch the ball while its in the air because you could hit someone, your supposed to take off your shoes, your playing for 90 seconds, and more importantly, have fun.
The game is named for Badminton, the country estate of the dukes of Beaufort in Gloucestershire, England, where it was first played about 1873. The roots of the sport can be traced to ancient Greece, China, and India, and it is closely related to the old children's game battledore and shuttlecock. at fisrt it was called "poon". lately in class, we have been learning and practicing to play badminton. badminton is a game played with rackets in which a shuttlecock is played back and forth across the net.
for this test we have to take the pre-push up test, pre-curl up test, pre-trunk lift test, pre-sit and reach test, and pre-timed mile. we have to do all of these pre-tests because so we can get prepared and in shaped for the fall fitness testing in the fall. and plus to know what we need to do better in.
what we did in class yesterday was that we did the challenge run. usually we go around the school and through the neighborhoods nearby. its about a mile long. but yesterday we had to do our timed mile in the ponding basin. the ponding basin is about half the size of a football field? i think. so we had to run around it 3 and a half times. also we had to run with the seventh graders and that was cool. anyway it was very tiring.
we have been practicing our push-ups and trunk-lifts during class. for push-ups there has to be a total of four or five people. there is going to be one person on the floor doing the push=ups getting tested. there is going to be another person on the side checking that their toes are curled up under their feet and checking that their but isn't in the air and that their body is in a straight line. and at last there is going to be one or two people where their hands are at, making sure that they are gong down at a 90 degrees angle and keeping count.
for trunk lifts we only used three or four people. the purpose of a trunk lift is to see how flexible you are. one person is going to be doing the trunk lift. another is going to be checking that they're "shoe laces" are going to be flat on the ground and that they're feet are always together. another person is going to be on the side making sure that they're hands are under their quads and to make sure that they are looking at a small fuzzy-ball that has been placed in front of them at all times. and the lasts the person will be taking the measurement with the ruler. but they are not place he ruler underneath their chin because they are going to put heir chin down and they will get hurt. |
